About this artwork
Spare abstract signs and symbols on a background of colorful, textured swatches. This approach is a bit of a departure for me, but I am very pleased with the result. It seems to me to have a little magic.

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
