About this artwork
A colorful composition of loose abstract lines of black, brown and blues combined with hard edged passages. Many textures and evidences of previous layers. Painted in November, when the leaves are off the trees and it’s starting to get cold. Thoughts of and easy chair with a good book.

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
