This painting reminds me of a colorful discourse that doesn’t make a tremendous amount of sense. Colorful shapes swirl around off white areas that are reminiscent of thought balloons. There are many layers and textures peeking though the finished surface.

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
