The paintings of Hans Everaert are conceptual landscapes, in the sense that they are landscapes turned into ideas – pictorial spaces that have allowed the mind of the painter to travel freely and arrive at previously unimagined destinations.
I would call them Surroundings – artefacts in which sensitivity, intuition and reasoning are combined to grasp a fraction of what looms in the world around us. A tendency to abstraction comes quite naturally… with this state of mind: it is the gateway to unlock the ideas.

Hans Everaert is an experienced Belgian painter who has exhibited his work nationally. Having turned to art after forming a deep interest in abstract expressionism and the immersive quality of a painting, he seeks to use his artistic practice to explore the concept of "deep time." Replicating the visual effects of sedimentation and erosion, Everaert composes piercing color fields to ultimately give form to the endlessness of the universe.
