About this artwork
Pole dancing is a sport that has existed for many years. It originated in the Chinese circus. Performers used to execute tricks and figures on a vertical pole.
Today, pole dancing is mainly seen as a form of dance or sport and is also often called pole fitness.
The figures, danced with aesthetics and grace, engage the entire body.

Hans-Gerd Wolfgarten works as a painter and photographer, drawing on a rich background in advertising, event and sports marketing, as well as extensive collaborations with international artists. His works are characterized by a critical, socially engaged style; he addresses topics such as the 2021 floods, climate change, and political controversies with a direct, often Banksy-inspired visual language. His works challenge the viewer to confront uncomfortable truths and convey a blend of thoughtfulness, hope, and haunting urgency.
