About this artwork
Imaginary creatures or inspired by real people, the characters of Hans Christian Vergara embody wisdom, sharing and universal harmony.
In this series of paintings depicting drinkers (kava, tea or other ceremonial drink), two characters, sitting here on dice to play (cubiletes as they say in Cuba) drink in silence in a desert environment of tiles stretching to infinity. They share, through an act that can be simply anecdotal, religious or mystical,… a moment of silence and communion.

« For me, painting is like life: a challenge to balance. It is a process in which the creator plays with universal language. »
Hans Vergara is an experienced Cuban artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited internationally. He is inspired by his multicultural upbringing between Spanish, African, French, and Chinese influences, and fills his works with mythological figures and Afro-Cuban divinities. Painting mostly in oil on canvas, Vergara creates semi-abstract scenes full of mystery and magic, celebrating the poetic marriage of myths and religions.
