When faced with uncertainty, I always anchor myself by sensing the "present moment." The act of painting itself serves as one of those vital grounding processes.
I am drawn to Eastern painting as a medium precisely because of its depth and the way it builds up in multiple layered textures. The intrinsic nature of this process—where countless layers accumulate and I must craft the pigments myself—captivates… me, capturing the deep passage of time within the canvas. In particular, I frequently use blue mineral pigments (seokchae) and powdered pigments (bunchae), as their profound depth resonates most closely with the innermost realm I seek to express.
While creating this piece, I intended to enter the most serene state—a space devoid of ego interference. Thus, I worked steadily, taking each step in a single, continuous breath. Even though it was time-intensive, I immersed myself in sensing time itself, remaining fully present within that pr
