About this artwork
Winter in northern Europe is cold and dark. The colors of nature only rarely reveal their wintry beauty on the few clear days. The soul longs all the more for the light and bright colors of summer and we are aware of how much we miss this time of year. Then it's time to express this longing through a painting. “Sønderstrand 2024” brings this summer mood into the room and tells of the lightness of this season. The large-format work deals with the… bright flickering of light both in the sky and in nature and, with its light, fine color structures, puts the viewer in a pleasantly cozy mood. The motif is based on a painting by the famous Skagen painter Michael Ancher entitled Sønderstrand 23. (1923)
« I want to be creative and experience creativity. Therefore I paint what I feel and with great tension, I look at what surrounds me. »
Hasso Heybrock is an artist based in Germany who has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in Denmark, Italy, and Spain. He believes that looking at a painting means walking into an unknown adventure through the picture, where hidden emotions come to the surface. For Heybrock, making the adventure as intense and exciting as possible for the viewer is his main challenge as a painter.
