About this artwork

The canvas is textured with silica sand and gesso which adds an aesthetic, organic tactility like a rock's surface. Heidi Thompson is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work in the US, Canada and Switzerland. She originally started out as a figurative painter striving to express the human condition, but soon decided to move away from the darkness and suffering she found herself portraying to a colorful abstract style full of hope, light and beauty. Today, she creates a bold and colorful 'Multicolours' series, as well as minimalist works that reflect the style of 'Monochrome Energy Fields.'
