About this artwork
In my artwork, I sought to capture the essence of a radiant sunrise melding into the cool calm of twilight. Using acrylic paints, I employed a unique patina painting technique where I would layer fluid paint, dry it partiall and then wash the entire painting off. This leaves an organic patina. I wanted to use the warm light and colors to evoke a sense of awakening and rebirth. The vibrant yellows with hints of blue symbolize transition and hope.…
Through this painting, I wish to infuse any space with an invigorating sense of renewal and boundless possibility. The canvas is textured to add a tactile sensuality and the edges are left painted showing the creative process. The work is signed on the back.

Heidi Thompson is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work in the US, Canada and Switzerland. She originally started out as a figurative painter striving to express the human condition, but soon decided to move away from the darkness and suffering she found herself portraying to a colorful abstract style full of hope, light and beauty. Today, she creates a bold and colorful 'Multicolours' series, as well as minimalist works that reflect the style of 'Monochrome Energy Fields.'
