About this artwork
The partially destroyed face represents the sensitivity and fragility of human nature... Especially in critical times, it becomes all the more clear how vulnerable one is. And the supposed security that people always rely on in their arrogance is usually a fabricated illusion.
This sculpture was presented as part of my solo exhibition "Adieu Tristesse" 2023 (Volksbank Erft eG Kerpen, Germany).
Terracotta (unglazed, fired clay), black sand,
Object… frame 23.5 x 23.5 x 9 cm.
The object can be hung up or placed freely on a pedestal or other piece of furniture. Fully signed and dated on the back including the internal registration number.

Helene Mantei is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Germany whose works have been featued in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally.
