About this artwork
This work is part of a series titled “varreu-se-me”, produced in 2022, which seeks to reimagine the memory of a person.
Through the use of large-scale monotype printing and mixed media on paper, the process embraces unpredictability as a generative force. An aqueous-based technique is employed to allow forms, marks, and gestures to emerge beyond full authorial control, opening space for discovery and unexpected visual outcomes.
In the act of representing… a figure rooted in memory, the process itself becomes transformative: the fluidity of the materials alters, distorts, and reshapes the remembered image, revealing how memory shifts and evolves through time and through the act of making.
