About this artwork
A tondo of pure transmutation. From a dark, molten core ringed in fractured gold, currents of crimson, ember orange and rose radiate outward like neurons firing — each stroke a synapse, each temperature a state of feeling. Cold blues intrude from the edges, the chill of one emotion invading the heat of another, mapping the exact moment when inner weather changes phase. Painted in acrylic with a gestural, impasto hand, the circular format turns the… composition into a closed system: energy with no exit, only transformation. This is the nucleus of Díaz's esoteric vocabulary — the origin point from which his vessels, arcs and mythic creatures derive
Henry Diaz is a self-taught painter from Maracaibo, Venezuela, now based in New York City, working primarily in painting. His technique fluidly intertwines abstract and figurative styles, including expressive color fields and symbolic elements rooted in both contemporary art and expressionism. Through his layered approach, he channels deep reflections on time, memory, migration, and resilience, evoking a sense of spiritual searching and emotional vulnerability in his work.
