About this artwork
The pulcinelle are superimposed on a tomboyish beauty who holds a magnificent apple in front of her left eye with a joyful, excited gesture of adoration. In the original, she is advertising the German agricultural economy and we ask ourselves: does it have to mean making fun of a central myth of Western culture, namely that of Adam and Eve, in the truest sense of the word? But that's not all: in front of the pot in which a Pulcinella is cooking his…
soup, we think we can see the upper part of a disproportionately enlarged blood-orange disk, which in turn is overlaid by a dark green shape in which a male mask-like pale green face can be recognized; which we now easily identify as Adam. The whole thing takes place against a translucent green background that suggests a park landscape, or, to stay with Genesis, probably means paradise.
