About this artwork
The "sea" can be viewed as endless and immeasurable, much like the dreams and hopes of an individual or humanity. In this sense, "Sea of Dreams" could represent the infinite possibilities that life or imagination can offer. Water, particularly the sea, is often used as a symbol of deep emotions and desires. A “sea of dreams” could therefore represent the depth and intensity of human desires and dreams. The sea can also symbolize the unknown and unexplored.… In this context, "Sea of Dreams" could indicate the mysterious and unexplored aspects of the human subconscious or human experience. The sea is constantly moving and changing, which can be a metaphor for life and dreams changing and evolving over time. Just as the sea can be both magnificent and dangerous, dreams could reflect both hopes and fears.
Heribert Heere uses collage, paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor), digital media, and photography; his artistic development was honed at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and shaped by art historical studies. With sophisticated stylistic pluralism, he combines old and new, representational and abstract, and the trivial with high culture in his works, allowing collage, painting, and montage to flow seamlessly into one another. His works create a poetic tension and invite viewers to reflect on the constant metamorphosis of our culture and to experience the interplay of meanings on an emotional level.
