About this artwork
This work is one of the faces I've created over the years and continue to create. They are female faces painted with flat metal palette knives, white impasto, and black tempera. The technique doesn't allow for detailed control, and this always yields unexpected and extremely powerful results.
The work is in all respects an acrylic on MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), painted with final acrylic varnish.
Measures 50 x 50 cm.

Herman Normoid comes from a background in cultural heritage restoration and uses mixed media ranging from pure-pigment acrylics to large- and medium-format graffiti on stucco. His style originates from the informal, evolving into a loosely controlled formality, characterized by the exclusive use of large, flat palette knives and steel tips, for intense, textured paintings. His works convey an instinctive energy rooted in the subconscious, allowing emotion and spontaneity to guide both the creation and the viewer's experience.
