This work speaks of the surface of light outcropping of trace/.
My painting is built up less by addition than by layering, removal and abrasion.
The successive layers of earth, white and pink are worked, then partially erased, scraped or crossed, revealing fragments of the earlier states.
The surface thus retains the memory of the gesture
Some areas are reworked to produce a dry, grainy texture, while others remain more fluid, alternating between… opacity and transparency.

Painting thus becomes a kind of memory of its own transformations.

Hervé Megaides is a self-taught painter, having enriched his career with two years at the Beaux-Arts de Paris as a guest of Professor Abraham Pincas. He favors oil painting on canvas, paper, or prepared cardboard, exploring geometric and lyrical abstraction through refined scraping techniques. His style, both structured and free, expresses slow evolution, fragile balance, and the subtle coexistence between order and imbalance, inviting contemplation and deep emotion.
After years of geometric abstraction, I let myself slide towards lyrical abstraction.
Here too, the colours and the materials have become entwined, I would say, loved, to hide and rediscover themselves, to express their intimacy to us, revealed by the light of day.
These assembled colors offer me an infinite research associating randomness and reflection.
