Holger Zimmermann works exclusively with motifs from the 1950s and 1960s, because for him this period is the cornerstone of our life today, with all its innovations and achievements. In no previous era has development progressed as quickly as it has since the 1950s, with the end of World War II and reconstruction, the new beginning.
He changes the old motifs on the computer and usually paints them in acrylic on canvas, wood, paper and found objects,… or he creates collages from them.
By alienating the motifs, he gives them a new time-adjusted presence.
