Holger Zimmermann works exclusively with motifs from the 1950s and 1960s, because for him this time is the cornerstone of today's life, with all its innovations and achievements. In no epoch before has the development progressed as quickly as since the 50s, with the end of World War II and the reconstruction, the new beginning.
He changes the old motifs on the computer and mostly paints them in acrylic on canvas, wood, paper and found objects, or… he creates collages from them.
By alienating the motifs, he gives them a new time-adjusted presence.
