About this artwork
In my work I have captured the flowing movements and the emotional beauty of ballet. The use of acrylic and oil emphasises the depth and dynamics of the figures. Their graceful dance, captured in cool shades of blue, is a tribute to the poetry of human movement. During a stay in Dresden I was able to admire the ballerinas of the Semperoper in Swan Lake and surrender myself to their dance. It was a special pleasure and I decided to paint them. The…
picture has been hanging in my studio at the end of a staircase for 5 years and when you go up the stairs to the first floor you look directly at these three the whole time, a sight that never ceases to amaze me.
