About this artwork
This work was made in Mauritius where I am originally from. It is presented on a piece of wood and represents the coconut trees that we can find in abundance on our island . This work is engrave on wood by using materials like grinder, mini-grinder, knife and paint.

Hugo Raffray is a painter and sculptor based in Mauritius whose works have been exhibited nationally. Inspired by the natural landscapes of the island, his artistic practice is marked by the recovery of older objects such as wooden doors. In his creative process, Raffray fuses engraving techniques with painting. He most often employs acrylics on wood.
