About this artwork
This painting is a personal tribute to God’s creativity, captured in the flight and stillness of two Sacred Kingfishers beside my studio on the Mahurangi River. One day one flew into my studio, thumping against my window when trying to escape. At first stunned, but later revived, it reminded me of divine grace and the mystery of life. I’ve woven a greenstone pendant into the scene as a symbol of eternal truth, spiraling from birth to glory. These…
birds, sacred in Māori and Polynesian lore, reflect heaven’s design: patient, precise, and beautiful. Their presence speaks of peace, wisdom, and the joy of creation.
