Ian Mclean is a passionate Canadian painter who has exhibited his work nationally. He seeks to use his paintings to document fictional efforts to seek utopia in residential settings, mixing modernist architecture with abstract elements to achieve a sense of otherworldly drama. His chosen medium is oil and he appreciates the enormous history it carries, but he likes to use it to infuse his images with irreverence and subtext. Mclean's overall aesthetic appears impulsive, seductive and impactful.
