About this artwork
This work deals with the pulse of nature and its cycles of expansion and contraction. The flax, which remains visible across much of the surface, represents the earth that awaits and sustains the changing seasons. It is a record of a flow that overflows in winter and recedes in summer, leaving only a pool as a trace of a force that continues to live beneath the surface.
Technique and Aesthetics: The gesture moves between the fluidity of water and… the aridity of the raw support. A tension is noticeable between the broad strokes that seek space and the areas of calm where the color pauses, evoking that layer of water that remains even when everything seems dry. The transparency of the materials allows us to see how the layers overlap, like sediments at the bottom of a riverbed.
It is a piece about patience and natural rhythms. It brings to the space an energy of constant movement and the solidity of that which always returns to its center.
Ignacio Barceló Carrillo, initially trained in philosophy, works with drawing and painting using materials ranging from charcoal and sand to industrial pigments. His technique is characterized by an abstract and expressionist style, with intuitive gestures and a profound exploration of the link between drawing and writing. His works seek to convey enthusiasm and expand consciousness, generating spaces of self-knowledge and inspiration through the vibrant energy he manages to materialize on each surface.
