About this artwork
2020 / Acrylic and graphite on stretched canvas.
Illustrative painting of Three Millennial Monkeys, a parody of the three wise monkeys in modern times and with technology available. In our modern days it is more difficult to "See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil". This piece represents the second visit to this idea, explored originally on 2018, in this new version the monkeys have updated technology and because they are in Milan, instead of… drinking soda the middle monkey is drinking a cup of coffee. The M cubed in the background is in reference to the initials of the painting's name.
Style: Figurative / Pop surrealism
Main Colors: Red, Black, Brown.
This piece is already SOLD to a private collector in Milan.
« I create colorful, warm and happy art- just like my homeland. My graphic-design and illustration background allowed me to diversify my style into Illustrative, geometric and expressionist themes. »
Ilaamen Pelshaw is a Guatemalan painter based in the United States whose work has been featured in solo and group shows nationally. Growing up with a grandfather who was an artist and muralist, Pelshaw became interested in art herself and developed a practice centered around positivity and warmth. Mostly working in acrylic on canvas, her work is always colorful and illustration based, whether through quirky animal portraits or paintings of Latin American culture and crafts.
