About this artwork
The first spring morning after a long, cold winter. The warm rays of the sun drive away the coolness of the night.
The technique, based on impressionism, with which this picture was created, symbolizes snowdrifts in winter, kept in cool, reserved shades of blue. The strong, friendly shades of red and yellow stand in contrast to this and symbolize both the rising spring sun and at the same time the "spark fire", an old Germanic custom in which a… huge fire is lit to banish winter.
The strongly contrasting color groups contrast the quiet restraint and darkness of winter with the joyful, warm beginning of spring and herald a time of departure.
The work was created with the "Oktopus" brush, which allows the artist to design the canvas with complete freedom and to create an intoxicating dynamic through the spontaneous, unpredictable application of paint.

« For me, being bright and colorful is synonymous with joy. The color in my paintings is my way to spread joy in the world. »
In her art, Ilo Dwingelo explores the emotional aspects of human existence – change, inner growth, and the search for balance. The starting point for her artistic work was a personal turning point: after experiencing burnout while working as an architect, she found a new form of expression and a path to reorientation in painting.
In her large-format acrylic paintings, she works with layers, structures, and vibrant color palettes. Her works make inner experiences visible and convey strength, movement, and development. Areas of color and organic forms represent memories, change, and the multifaceted nature of human experience.
Her work combines sensitive topics with lightness and energy. It tells the story of how new perspectives can emerge from challenges and invites viewers to find themselves emotionally reflected in the images. In this way, spaces for connection, openness, and confidence are created.
