About this artwork
Canvas and paint instead of Dancers and stage.
We can clearly see that movement is her drive and source of inspiration. She definitely found a new way of choreography.
Creating and destroying, just as long till there is nothing left that can be taken away.
An attempt to capture time or to simply give time another dimension.
The work of Ilona Hendriks show fragments of her live, the world and the people around her. Brought alive with lots of expression,… colour and passion.
In her series “woman power” Ilona uses a method of painting in which abstraction and figurative images combine and reinforce each other's effect.
“I paint females because I naturally have a connection with them, like painting a semi self-portrait.”

« Paint happens. »
Ilona Hendriks is an artist based in The Netherlands with exposure in several galleries in Europe. With movement as her main source of inspiration she realizes semi-abstract, expressive and daring paintings with a combination of thick structured strokes and soft- gentle flows of paint. Using “the moment” #painthappens and most of all trusting the process. Many interpenetrating layers to achieve the desired effect with vivid colours. In her series “woman power” Ilona uses a method of painting in which abstraction and figurative images combine and reinforce each other's effect. She uses premium acrylics in combination with thick medium & sand on linnen canvas.
