About this artwork
The small heads are works as sketches for my series of dissolved heads. Due to the small format, I can quickly try out and experiment with how I can use the brushwork and the colors. Here, too, I layer, superimpose and dissolve the heads again and again through the rhythmic setting of the colors.

Ilona Ottenbreit is a German painter, sculptor and draftsman who has exhibited extensively in both solo and group events in Germany and the United Kingdom. Her works examine rhythm and movement, as it is the 'cause of our lives'. Ottenbreit's sculptures portray groups of people in movement, representing a collective connection, or oneness. She begins her process by sketching and examining motion, following the dancer with lines and recording what she can intuitively grasp.
