About this artwork
I started this series at the beginning of 2012, just after my arrival in Canada. The series is dedicated to my last travels through Macedonia, North Africa and Canada. Although those places offered different faces of landscapes, cultures, traditions and experiences, they spoke to me in the same words and were shown to me with the same colors. This is the evidence that sometimes in the differences we can find the same beauty.

« Painting for me is a sort of liberation, a play between my emotions and canvas. The work produced reflects the impressions I generate through the interaction of my interiority with the outside world. »
Irena Belcovski is an internationally recognized contemporary abstract painter. Her work has been exhibited by numerous independent Canadian galleries and is found in private collections the world over. She has been an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists since 2015. Her paintings are interested in our subjective interpretations of the world and the distinction between reality and perspective.
