About this artwork
In creating this piece, I drew deeply from a vibrant palette of acrylics, watercolors, and collage elements to manifest a dreamlike vista that invites the viewer to transcend ordinary perception. The Common Ringed Plover watching with a scope could be the main character of a graphic novel I have yet to write. The semi-abstract forms and symbolic hues weave a tale of playful exploration and discovery. This painting is an invitation to journey into… emotional depths, promising to bring a dynamic burst of energy and introspection into any space.
Prints still visible at the bottom of the cardboard reveal its origins in one of the largest and most wasteful brands on the planet.
Coming from a background of philosophy and cognitive science, Irene makes use of materials provided by the logistic world she works in, using found cardboard as her canvas. She employs watercolor inks and acrylics to paint serene landscapes, letting the surface's incidental cracks, rips, or prints guide her compositions. Her work, often influenced by natural environments and non-human beings, conveys themes of hope and resilience in uncertain times.
