About this artwork
This striking acrylic on canvas exploration delves into the relationship between rigid geometry and organic texture. At the heart of the composition is a multifaceted prism-like form, where deep azure and vibrant orange collide. The contrast between these complementary colors creates a visual tension, reminiscent of elemental forces—fire and water, or the meeting of earth and sky.
Technique: The artist employs a sophisticated layering technique,… utilizing a palette knife to create a weathered, industrial patina. This texture gives the piece a sense of history and depth, suggesting a surface that has evolved over time. The intentional distressing of the background provides a soft, atmospheric counterpoint to the sharp lines of the central geometric structure.
« Like any other artist, I try to make this world a better place by bringing new emotions into it. I hope it works. »
Irina Tsypilova is a Vienna-based artist and member of the Union of Artists of Vienna and Austria. Since graduating with honors from Art College in 2002, she has developed a unique style combining painting, collage, mosaic, and graphics on paper, canvas, and wood. Her work explores texture and material, balancing spontaneity with precision.
Her recent series contrasts bright, freeform shapes with smooth black lines, blending abstraction with controlled design. Irina is known for surreal compositions—like syrup pouring from cheese or a pear on a glowing cube—that reflect her fascination with the absurd and simple forms’ philosophical depth.
Inspired by 20th-century surrealists and cubists, her art evokes strong emotions and deep reflection. Her works are held in private collections across Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.
