About this artwork
This piece began, as many of mine do, with ink — fine lines branching and curling across the page like an unknown botanical alphabet. I didn't plan the flowers; they revealed themselves gradually, taking root in the ornamental logic of the drawing. Each bloom feels like a cipher, part creature, part vessel, part dream.
When the watercolor came in, I chose a single strong hue — a deep, clear blue — to contrast the warm, sepia-toned ink. I wanted the… flowers to glow like precious minerals or rare sea plants suspended in time.
To me, this piece is a visual poem — a hybrid garden where artichokes wear armor, lotus flowers sing in spirals, and everything whispers in an invented floral language.
