About this artwork
In this piece, I've melded wax, oil pastel, and pigments to capture an ephemeral dance of color and form, a reverie inspired by both the subtlety of oriental art and the raw emotion of expressionism. Each stroke is imbued with the rhythms of nature and the whispers of impressionistic dreams. This painting is not just an object, but a living, breathing entity that will infuse your space with its dynamic energy and vibrant spirit.

« My soul as a gradation from ivory black to dark slate, silver beige to light pearl grey. Surrounded in darkness, yet enfolded in light. »
Iris Issen is an artist based in Japan whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally. She describes her art as orbiting around the concept of the four symbols in Japanese, as well as the classic Chinese philosophy that considers all creatures on Earth as being under the guardianship of the four cardinal directions. Issen primarily creates with wax and mineral oigments.
