About this artwork
In my artwork, I applied acrylic and pigments to canvas using the stain technique to create a semi-abstract, minimalist depiction of nature behind a chain link fence. The vibrant colors and details of the flora contrast with the rigid, dark fence, reflecting the tension between freedom and limitation. This work invites reflection on the coexistence of natural beauty and man-made barriers and brings an energetic, thoughtful ambience to any home.

Iris Vitzthum is an award-winning painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Japan, China, and the United States. She describes her artistic process as originating from the observation of her surroundings. Searching for the substrate, Vitzthum says that she steals, destroys, lies, and exaggerates in her surreal compositions. She creates using acrylics, oils, pigments, and India ink on canvas.
