Originally from Khayelitsha. Living in Vrygrond since 2016.
Even though Litha lives in a shack, he makes sure he always looks good. When his favourite pair of trousers became worn out, he became creative in repairing them with different fabric. The idea of Ubuntu Trends, a clothing brand that he started this year with some friends, is based on this principle: re-use and re-think, while being proudly African.
The series will be exhibited… at the PhotoDoc. Fair in Paris 10-12 May 2019. Isabel Corthier will share 20% of the profits with the people portraited.

Isabel Corthier, born in 1977 in Belgium, is a documentary photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Her photographic works are deeply invested in creating dignified, humanizing representations of communities that have been effected by political turmoil or other forms of conflict. Her works are powerful portraits of people in various walks of life, both intimate and resounding in their affect.
