About this artwork
Inspired by longtail boats, it is the traditional means of maritime transport in Thailand. Its design is very distinctive and unique compared to other Southeast Asian countries.
Made of wood, narrow, long in length, with a pointed bow and dressed with colorful scarves to protect the crew from evil spirits and ensure their safe return, they have a distinctive feature on the stern that makes them unique.
In my color palette I wanted to highlight… warm yellows and ochres for the color of the wood, turquoises referencing crystal clear waters and pinks for the scarves.
