About this artwork
In this work, the artist has sought, as in the relief series, to make the subject appear in three dimensions, pushing him towards a form of abstraction. By over-exposing certain parts of the subject, left white, the artist intentionally made them disappear so that the subject is confused with the background of the white canvas. In an intermediate plan, other parts of this nude woman are barely suggested by rubbed paint on the canvas. In the foreground,…
some parts of the subject are materialized by pigments projected on the canvas giving all the relief necessary for this body and hence the three dimensions sought.

« Being closer to nature suits me in life as in painting ! I try to give nature a depth, render its three dimensions on my canvas and thus, show what seems invisible in reality. »
Isabelle Michel is an emerging French painter with national exposure. She works the chosen object in relief and in hollow using charcoal, acrylic paint, pigments or sand to make it more present, more alive and to give it a hyper-realist appearance and sometimes going towards a form of abstraction.
