About this artwork
It's a symbolic image. I ask the viewer a question: what/who is the main course here? We are used to having baked chicken on our plate. However, in the painting the hen is alive and she is the consumer. A green onion is also a hen's egg. The hen has her own cutlery and is the one who eats the meat on the plate. The minimalist Main Course is a playful reference to the still lifes of old Dutch masters.
