About this artwork
This photograph was taken from a vantage point high above the sprawling town where I spent a difficult and traumatic childhood. My mother's ashes were also strewn on this rocky outcrop, many years ago. As difficult as the memories of those bygone times might be, there are still moments when I seem to yearn for those bruised and broken years. But no matter how far I try to reach, I can never return, never grab a hold of that part of me that will forever…
remain lost.

Jac Kritzinger is an award-winning fine art photographer with a rich background in travel, portrait, and documentary work, holding a BA Honors in Film and Visual Media.
Kritzinger expertly balances an edgy, stylized aesthetic with a sense of fundamental realism, utilizing emotive color pairing and dynamic lighting while aiming to capture moments authentically in-camera. For the most part, his photographs are deeply personal while at the same time evoking a sense of universal, mystical transcendence, transforming the ordinary into something sublime and deeply evocative. His more conceptual projects often features a strong social conscience and commentary on modern culture. The language of light ultimately illuminates all, and in that sense his work can be seen as a form of visual poetry, inviting viewers to reconnect with a World often lost in plain sight.
