About this artwork
This piece represents a moon from my imagination, with marks and scars that give it its own history. I love to think these moons as having faces, each one with their own characteristics. This moon is calm but brooding, but shines bright in the night. I wanted to harness the brilliance of a copper disc, suspended in deep black. The material is highly reflective so has a big impact on its environment especially when lit correctly. I researched and…
found the worlds ‘blackest black’ paint in order to create this illusion, and had custom made discs for which I etched and scraped the paint through. This painting marked the beginning of the Luna series.
