About this artwork
Sassy Pants is an exploration of form – post casting. A narrowed waist and turn of the hips dramatically change the mood or tone of the figure. Like all her forms, Jackie first sculpted the figure in wax. For this series, the wax form was directly molded in silicone. Each piece in the series has been modified post-casting in plaster. Materials: Integrally colored plaster, metal, wood.
Like all of Jackie’s work, this piece takes a modern, contemporary… approach to the power of the female body – both figurative and abstract at the same time. Jackie’s primary inspiration is dance – modern ballet, hip-hop and jazz -- dance that’s raw with energy. She’s not trying to recreate the dance or the dancer, but instead to capture her energy and strength.
