About this artwork
I painted this while I was contemplating my existence as a human creature, role as an artist and an individual. The existential thinking brought to mind dualistic images of life and death, permanent and temporary.
Although a bit more relaxed with rendering, I use a technique similar to the Dutch masters of drawing, underpainting, painting, and glazes. The distorted skull was influenced by Holbein’s “The Ambassadors”.
