About this artwork
“ESCAPE CODE”
100 x 150 cm
Earth and acrylic colors
2025
“Escape code” is a work that is part of the labyrinth cycle, more specifically the figurative QR code labyrinth cycle.
The surface appears as a labyrinthine landscape, whose structure recalls the geometry of a QR code: a sign of our digital age, a symbol of a technological language that codifies access to information and experiences.
The absence of an obvious path suggests an existential… condition: the difficulty of orienting oneself in the chaos of the present, amid infinite possibilities and no certain direction.
The contrast between the raw materiality of the support, achieved with thick layers of dried earth, and the clarity of the underlying design evokes a dialogue between the real and the virtual, nature and code, dream and technology. The upper part of the canvas, worn and cracked, dissolves in a visual disintegration reminiscent of dreamlike interference.

Jacopo Berlendis, architect and painter, explores the fusion between design and art by cultivating natural and transformative themes. He uses earth and vegetation, modeling them in three-dimensional works which with acrylics and pigments interpret landscapes animated by a powerful physicality. His creations evoke a feeling of regeneration, revealing underground worlds of sublime material metamorphosis.
