About this artwork
This woman, so gracious, so tender, so strong.
While painting a young bird, a jay, flew against the window of my studio, broke his neck, faught for his life but died in the carring arms of my daughter. To remind him I painted the black and blue stripes of his wings in to the painting.

Jacqueline Engels is an artist based in the Netherlands whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Her landscapes, urban scenes, and conceptual based pieces are most often created in series. In an artistic practice that is marked by coincidence, Engels alternates between themes and pieces at the same time, "fluttering back and forth".
