This painting was inspired by the poetics and history of Wine and created along side a commission for an Australian Boutique Winery.
There is much exploring the lush characteristics of wine and finding great joy. The generous warm tones on the palette and on the eye. The richness, generosity and depth. And then, looking into the wine glass from above, the jewel of light coming through the colour, the wave of the swirl. There is a richness of these… experiences of enjoying wine and art and the layers of history. And there is pleasure to be had is in the painting and the glass.
The ovoid forms and palette her connect perfectly with Jacquelyn’s art-practice of molecular-cellular biological abstraction. There is also a connection with the microorganisms of the ‘Terroir’ in the vineyard soil and in the wine fermentation process. All these miniscule life forms matter to the wine.
