About this artwork
Partial nude depicting a woman's belly and the curves that are outlined there.
Curves is a sensual and elegant celebration of the female form, highlighting the softness and harmony of its shapes. The bold framing, centered on an anatomical detail, invites an intimate and almost abstract contemplation of the subject. The subtle interplay of light and shadow creates a refined modeling effect, accentuating the voluptuousness and fluidity of the body's… lines. The uncluttered background emphasizes the essential, leaving room for imagination and emotion. This work, straddling the line between realism and abstraction, evokes the softness of touch and the beauty of natural forms. The delicate and intimate approach will appeal to lovers of figurative art seeking a poetic representation of the body. Curves is an invitation to contemplate and appreciate sensuality in its purest form.

Jacques Maupas
France
Jacques Maupas approached oil painting through a self-taught process, marked by periods of intense practice and breaks related to his professional life. It was in his thirties, encouraged by his mother's example, that he began to master the medium before dedicating himself fully to his art since his retirement in 2016.
His work revolves primarily around the human figure, with a marked predilection for female portraits and nudes. Through oil on canvas, he explores the precision of features and the subtlety of expressions, seeking to capture the immediate emotion conveyed by a face or a gaze.
Each work is born from a personal feeling in the face of the beauty or character of a subject, whether it be the grace of a ballerina or the irony of a scene from everyday life. Jacques Maupas projects these sensations onto the canvas by playing with contrasts of light and anatomical details to bring his figurative compositions to life.
