The BREUGHEL(s) amazed the documentary wanderings of my early years. Very early on, I convinced myself that I had been a painter in other lives.
No doubt that during his medieval years, BREUGHEL, on amateur walks among peasants, at festivals, at weddings, filled his memory with a collection of scenes, anecdotes, and events of his time. Then, returning with his head full to his studio, with his paintbrush, he could unfold these stories without worrying… about getting stuck on a single, restrictive subject...
It is in this spirit that this painting was constructed, exactly on the canvas of one of his own, ("Proverbs" painting from 1595 by "the elder"? copied by "the younger"???)) I invited him behind my hand as if he had gone there to see the things of our world today.
We see a Covid case, Jaws where the shark is a cameraman, the extermination of whales, the extras. (continued -> painter...)
Self-taught artist Jacques Resch masterfully wields oil paint, drawing on five decades of artistic exploration. He combines hyperrealism with surrealist echoes, borrowing the precision of the old masters to create dreamlike and contemplative worlds. Through his work, he invites the viewer to view our times with poetic intensity, blending wonder and reflection.
