« There are many stories from my ancestors about humans that become animals - as ritual and protection. I also paint everyday scenes that have links to mythical narratives. »
Jaime Ruiz is an exciting Mexican artist and the 2015 recipient of the Ministry of Culture’s Young Creators Grant. Using mostly warm, earthy colours and zoomorphic themes, his works simultaneously comment on and break down the many borders that exist in our world: between continents, countries, classes and beyond.
