The artist puts the mother close to but separate from "The Bride." The bride stands for the future, while the mother shows a long history, having lived many roles. "The Mother" connects "The Guests" (who watch everything) and "The Bridesmaids"…
(who help with the ceremony). She is the emotional support who has worked hard to keep the event going. The bright colors show her forced happiness while she handles everything. In short, "The Mother" reveals the hidden work, split identity, and her role as both respected and trapped in keeping up male-dominated traditions.

Jaio DosAnjos is an artist from Portugal based in Germany who has exhibited her paintings nationally, in Austria and Germany. In her works, she endeavors to convey the beauty and power of the elements through colors. However, she also depicts other personal themes through her compositions. DosAnjos' series entitled "Naufragio" (shipwreck) reflects her childhood experience of almost having drowned with her family fleeing Angola due to the civil war, which also relates to the current refugee movement across the Mediterranean.
