About this artwork
The historically dated city of Marrakech caught my interest immediately. I recognised it as a melting pot of senses, people and culture. It's a city where people come together from far and wide. I used a variety of different techniques, materials and subjects to achieve my interpretation of two men just outside the ancient walls.
The colours and patterns of many carpets found in Morocco are a direct inspiration for my work. I used different patterns… found in my travels there as a basis for this one. Oil pastel was used as a final touch to add texture once the oil paint had dried entirely.
